The Mu3e experiment is an innovative particle physics experiment currently under construction at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland. We are building the data acquisition system for Mu3e, which has to transport over a 1 TB/s of data out of the detector to a farm of GPUs used for online event reconstruction. For this data transport, we rely on several thousand optical fibres in non-standard configurations. Sylex has been instrumental in developing and producing these custom optical cables. The exchange with the engineers was swift and very helpful and the received cables are of excellent quality.
