There are a number of applications where saving space is key. For On-Board Optics applications, Sylex offers Slimfan – a compact, low-profile and low-cost fanout with very small dimensions. Bare ribbon cable is split into individual fibres protected by 900um tubes. The breakout area is well protected against impact and any other damage. The fanout base is just one millimetre thick, can be ordered in different shapes and can include holes for mounting by screws to a PCB or another surface.
